Toddler Friendly Summer Activities

Warmer temperatures and longer days are here which means more fun outdoor time with your little ones. My almost three-year-old keeps telling me that he wants to go out. He does not seem to be wanting to stay indoor these days. I can say the same about my dog. He just hates being inside when the weather is warm.

Looking for some fun activities to do with your little ones? I have some fun ideas:

  • Swim lessons

Pool time with little ones is so much fun. Swimming is an important lifesaving skill and what is better than starting early. It helps the babies feel comfortable in water. The sooner your little one is exposed to water the better. They learn to enjoy it and at the same time understand the boundaries. It’s a great way for parents to bond with their baby, have fun and teach them an important skill. In addition, swimming also contributes to sensory development.

  • Music lessons

Music plays an important role in the growth and development of babies and toddlers. Exposing little ones to music during early development helps them learn the sounds and meanings of words. Just as taste, textures and colors aid a child’s sensory development, so does music.

  • Dance lessons

We recently joined mommy and me dance classes. These are so much fun. Great way to get your little one moving and stretching. Music, movement, balance and the basic dance steps are introduced in a fun, friendly and positive manner. It is so much fun to encourage and support your toddler to try some new moves.

  • DIY Activities

This spring, we got a bunch of paint your own bird houses from Target dollar spot and painted them. It kept him busy, he enjoyed doing it, and is a fantastic addition to our yard. My son loves putting bird food in them and watching the birds come stop by at the bird houses he painted.

  • Landscaping

You must be wondering why I included this one when we are talking about toddler activities. Toddlers can help with doing small things around the yard like watering plants, helping with pulling out the weeds, installing solar lights. This makes the toddlers feel involved. Recently, I was gifted a 6 pack Landscape light set from Gigalumi. My toddler helped me install those in the yard (no wires needed). Each evening when the warm white LED lights up, my toddler feels so proud of himself because he helped mommy do it. Seeing that kid so happy and the bronze finished lights with the clear ribbed glass lighted it makes me feel so happy.
